Adulting is hard, you guys.
Like, being responsible for shit... like bills and people and putting gas in the car. Ugh. Why??
I was thinking about the shit things we have to do and wondering how we all get motivated every day to do those things, no matter how fucking awful they are, and decided to share some things that motivate me.
Probably my biggest motivators are The Boys. Those kids have been through some shit, yet they are all so strong. They are smart, handsome, caring, and respectful, just to name a few qualities. They keep me going every day; they push me to be a better mom and person, and they never let me forget why I do what I do.
My step-dad motivates me... or the memory of him does. He isn't dead or anything, he was just a giant abusive asshole. Remembering the names he called me and the things he would say to me help me to be patient and tolerant of people... To try to remember that every one is going through something and even though I don't know what it is, I should still treat them with respect and love... To remind me that just because I CAN call someone a fat bitch and smack them upside their head, doesn't mean that I SHOULD... Probably should add my mother's constant doubting and lack of support to this list...
My grandpa's memory motivates me. He was the kindest, smartest, hardest working, funniest guy I have ever known. He would give you the shirt off his back and the last $5 in his wallet if you needed them. He taught all of us to work hard and to respect everyone we met. He loved us unconditionally, despite not being blood relatives. Every day I try to honor him by being the best person I can be.
My super silly and most incredible boyfriend motivates me. He could tell me he loves me 1000 times and it would still make me happier to hear him say that he's proud of me. Knowing he supports my ideas and passions is an amazing feeling. Knowing we share some of those ideas and passions makes it that much better.
Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll don't hurt either.
